Mina Braun was born in 1980 in Frankfurt am Main and studied illustration at the University of Kassel as well as at the Edinburgh College of Art in the United Kingdom. Since 2015, she has been working as a freelance illustrator in Berlin. In addition to commissioned work, Mina produces her own print graphics and books.

Topics that are close to her heart and inspire her include sustainability, nature, and everyday stories. The children’s book Billabongkönig, illustrated by her, was published by Beltz Verlag in 2022, selected by the Stiftung Buchkunst for the shortlist of the most beautiful German children’s books, and nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 2023.

In 2024, Mina served as a jury member for the Stiftung Buchkunst’s Young Book Design Grant and for Posters for Future. She also regularly conducts workshops on illustration and risography. Her workshop Planet Riso takes place monthly at Drucken3000 in Berlin-Mitte.

The children’s book Nora & die Mauersegler, which she designed and is set in Berlin’s Hufeisensiedlung, will be published this year by Goldblatt Verlag.
